How do I know if disfigurement is medical malpractice?

Disfigurement caused by or a result of misdiagnosis, negligent treatment, surgical error  or facility maintenance (i.e. a condition contracted due to an unclean hospital) is malpractice.  The social stigma and its psychological pain it can result in can be debilitating.  Treatments such as plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery are available, but can be costly and painful.
