Caring for a Special Needs Child

Raising a child is expensive, but a raising special needs child comes with its own set of challenges and financial burdens. Many of these children require intensive therapy to help them achieve milestones that other children will naturally reach on their own. They may require special schooling. While other children will reach a point where they can be left at home alone, special needs children will always require supervision and assistance. This places a great financial burden on the families to cover the cost of daycare for an older child so that they can continue working.

Healthy children will have the ability to eventually go out and support themselves. Many children who suffer birth defects will always be dependent on their family and the government to provide them with the support and care that they require. Easing that burden allows the families to focus on getting their children the assistance they need and helping them reach a higher level of functioning.
